The Philosophy of Life Catalogue

I think it would be cool to have a book/resource cataloging people's philosophies of life. 
I imagine everything from a crack whore's views on the world to a peasant farmer to a middle class salaryman to a spiritual leader.   The spectrum of how they view life could be revealing and enlightening.  Their world is a reflection of them, and they are a reflection of their world. 
And their understanding of their world, their understanding of themselves and those around them could be useful for seeing not only the consequences of a worldview, but also how various philosophies fare under vastly different living conditions.

Life as a researcher

The word I was searching for finally popped into my head.  I'm a researcher.  OK, well, since I dislike labelling, perhaps it's more precise to say that one of the things that comes rather easily to me is research.  Furthermore, one of the things I enjoy doing is research. 

By thinking of myself as a researcher, it seems to explain a lot, and also give me pause for thought...  How can I live a comfortable, well-off life as a researcher?  What am I interested in researching? 

Haa.  Just thought of something amusing.  I should research how to live a comfortable, well-off life as a researcher.

Stuck in the Muck

Bogged down in the day-to-day.  Inert.  Reactive.  Wrapped up in my own world.

Essentially, whatever the qualities that "leaders" are supposed to have, imagine the opposite.

When I'm up and active, and talking and directing and critiqueing and guiding and planning, I feel like I'm leading.

When I'm sitting and reading and attending meetings and distracted, then I feel like a lump.

Nice thing about goals is that it provides a reason to expend the energy. 

one step at a time

So yesterday, someone with lots of clout suggested I first start by helping one of our VARs make his project successful.  It's what we have in mind, but on a smaller level. 

I attended a presentation given by this VAR today.  I was very impressed with the completeness and thoroughness of his solution.  I felt customers would feel very comfortable about the credibility of the solution he describes. 

Apparently he and our salesperson are doing some sort of direct mail piece.  News to me.  Sounds like it's not exactly thought out.  I'm supposed to see a draft today.

A new product line

OK, the challenge.
To launch a new product line and bring in revenue, soon.  I can't reveal any details for trade secret reasons.  Which is sad, since I'd like to help ambitious young people learn what's going on behind-the-scenes.
