A "critic" is a man who creates nothing and thereby feels qualified to judge the work of creative men. There is logic in this; he is unbiased
-- he hates all creative people equally.

I've noticed a common theme in TV shows these days. Especially reality TV. They provide a way for people to judge and critique the actions/style/knowledge/clothing/character of others. Whether contests or makeovers, there's a huge undercurrent of focusing on what's wrong with people.
Think about it. The Swan. The Apprentice. American Idol. Extreme Makeover. Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. Trading Spaces. Rebel Billionaire. They give the TV viewer a way to sit in judgement on others.
